Everyone's taste in Kindle protection is different and we have been all searching for various things and perceive some other value with regards to product cost vs. features. This Kindle cover has several nice attributes, but does lack a few key features I find important (plus a little of the extra I possibly could do without).

One thing about Kindle covers is that they boil right down to two design types--the sleeve and the 'book style' covers. Many individuals like the protection and feel from the book type cover, plus some work as easels or stands. However, I'm within the camp where I simply prefer holding a 'naked' Kindle while reading. For people like me, the sleeve style will be the method to go.

One positive note, well it's AVAILABLE. I think Amazon does get yourself a bit of a bonus when producing new products-they hold the accessories prepared to go. Granted it isn't badly as when K3/Keyboard arrived along with a great deal of vendors were apparently left flat footed sufficient reason for a large amount of inventory no new product. I became sure a whole new Kindle was released this time when several sellers were suddenly slashing prices on his or her covers! This time around around there may also be several other alternatives available, however, not a whole lot, so again, this one is at least AVAILABLE.

This sleeve is quite lightweight--this is both a good plus a negative depending on the use patterns. Part with the appeal with the sleeve would be to maintain the sleek nature of my Kindle. A heavy or bulky sleeve detracts out of this while most likely offering more protection. This technique is light and low profile-- and though there's padding, it really is more of a 'keep it safe in a small purse' type. I might NOT feel at ease by using this sleeve in the rougher environment (like my children's backpacks--or even mine). There is certainly minimal rigidity to the design along with the padding is pretty thin--it will protect the screen, but I'm unsure how good the whole Kindle would stand up to heavier impact. Again, ideal for some use patterns, less than perfect for others.

The zipper--positive or negative depending on your reason for view. I like zippers in lots of places, I'm simply not wild about them near my Kindle screen as I will be a lttle bit of a klutz. Some designers put a protective fold or flap the maintain the zipper away through the actual holding compartment. Not a massive thing, on the other hand don't like the possibility of direct contact between the Kindle and also the zipper.

The materials-hmmm. Not just a nice way to convey this, but there's a fairly strong chemical odor once the package is first opened. After having a couple days this is resolving however i can continue to smell it while holding it right around my nose. A bit of a shut off and sensitive noses and airways might not enjoy this!

The materials again--the fabric is somewhat rough and pebbly and 2 tone (grey/black for one and 2 shades of blue for that other)--my sons such as the look, however i don't realize that appealing i suspect who's will 'pill' after awhile. The household Y chromosomes disagree with me at night (well, not about the 'pill' part, they have zero idea what I'm talking about--one of my parenting failures as I've not taught them this apparently), nonetheless they love the way the covers look.

The little (presumably) faux leather band just isn't sewn entirely down--which is good because you can slip your hand through it and utilize it to carry or being an attachment site. I prefer this.

The construction is well done when it comes to assembly. A very clean, tidy and quality look.

Overall, I give this 4 stars as. We have seen other designs which are able to take care of the sleek profile but use a much more rigid material for better impact protection, which I prefer. I'm a little leery from the zipper design and That's not me a large fan with the material used. However, there are a lot of nice features too, and it all boils as a result of personal taste and overall it can be a nice, quality, sleeve.

Recommended, not for me personally (but these are for the children and they love them).

EDITED 11/17/11 (at least in my time zone..). Now my boys happen to be applying this sleeve for on the month now and i also desired to give a couple comments. On the plus side the chemical odor did disappear completely--no issue inside my family, but it had been bad enough that we think someone with reactive airways or even a strong nose could really believe it is bothersome. No 'pilling' or zipper issues yet, though the way the zipper goes around there was one case in the Kindle falling out in clumps and hitting the tile floor when my youngest thought it turned out closed every among the way. Obviously user error (the Kindle was fine thankfully!) but design-wise that might be a problem for someone.

This is exercising acceptable for my kiddos...at this time I'd be giving a 4.5 stars if I could!

Excellent case, fits the Kindle very nicely. Snug, but less than snug to generate it tough to fit the Kindle into. Case itself is VERY light and thin, picking it while using Kindle in it, you almost feel like there can't be anything in there, because the Kindle is indeed light too.

Feels like there could possibly be a touch of extra space around the side as a way to allow for the Kindle Touch, which is slightly larger compared to new Kindle. Nevertheless it feels like the case was designed just for that new Kindle without touch, it fits very well.

The inside material is soft as well as a bit spongy, and feels like it will offer good protection for that Kindle. I'm comfortable tossing this in the bag or backpack without worrying about damaging the Kindle.

Zipper goes around 2 sides only, and works very smoothly. Great case!
